How We Race
Race Formats
Kart Day events run in multiple formats: different ways of running a race day, each with its own rhythm. The event page for the race will tell you the format. Here's what your day actually looks like in each.
Practice/Qualifying, Heats & a Main
Sprint
Drivers run a combination Practice/Qualifying session, a Heat session, and then a Main for the checkered flag. Bigger fields split sessions into groups. When there's more than one Main, the winning driver from a lower Main moves up to the back of the field for the next one — the “C” Main winner is promoted to the “B” Main, and the “B” Main winner is promoted to the “A” Main. The fastest drivers end up in the “A” Main, which runs last.
- •Bigger fields split into groups (A/B/C)
- •Heats are independent — results only feed the Main
- •A lower Main’s winner is promoted into the one above it
Practice, Qualifying, Two Heats & a Main
Super Sprint
A longer version of Sprint. Adds a Practice stage, a second Heat stage, and Qualifying becomes a green/white/checkered two-lap event. Practice pace sets your Qualifying group, Qualifying seeds your 1st Heat, and your 1st Heat seeds your 2nd Heat — with the top 10 starting spots inverted for Heat 2. Your Mains grid comes from adding your 1st and 2nd Heat finishes together, lowest total leading the field. Just like Sprint, the winning driver from a lower Main moves up to the back of the field for the next one — the “C” Main winner is promoted to the “B” Main, and the “B” Main winner is promoted to the “A” Main. The fastest drivers end up in the “A” Main, which runs last.
Example shown: a field big enough to need six Qualifying groups. Your event's actual group counts scale with who's registered.
- •Practice groups run by registration order, not speed
- •Heat 2 grids off Heat 1’s finish, with the top 10 inverted
- •Mains add your two heat finishes together — lowest total leads
One Timed Race
Iron Man
One driver, one kart, one race: a single timed session from 30 to 180 minutes, with no Qualifying or Heats. Starting grid position comes from your season points standing, with the top 10 spots inverted. Iron Man rewards consistency and endurance — how will you do?
- •No qualifying or heat stage — straight to the grid
- •Grid set by season points, not race-day pace
- •No separate points step — results are the whole event
